The windshield is pretty clear!!
For anyone that iis curious of actual weight. The Optic armor is 23lbs for the 200mph windshield. Im not sure what the oem weight is because I had an aftermarket windshield. That weighed 40lbs. So a whopping 17lbs lighter.
Between the 30lbs of metal I cut out of the rear and riveted metal back in I saved about 25lbs. The fuel cell was 22 less but only 8 gallons instead of 16.8 like the stock tank.
At the end of the day the cell and windshield should come very close to making up for the weight of the cooler and the hood.
Hoping to have it running tomorrow night, tuned in on about 25 psi on saturday, and to the track on sunday!

But I made it and even with a hood finally.
So car did exactly what I expected. 8.89-9.1 I tried different launch rpms and boost. Mid michigan is always a half *** prepped track but it is closest to me so I tend to go there often. Anyways.
The change in heads is best described as these things have an awesome mid range! They make power much lower in the rpm band. This thing is quick as **** from 3,500-7,000 then sort of goes flat after 7k. Total opposite from the dart rectangle. Those would come alive almost 6,000 and pull like a freight train to almost 8k.
Anywho. Now All i have left to do to the car is wire in the two step and such. Wire up and test the boost controller.
Best MPH of 154 on 13.5 psi of boost is pretty badass!

Heads look nice. LEts see what they are about out of the box. I fixed a cracked plug I had last night and turned it up to 20 psi. Cant hold the road anymore.
They are a beast pulling to 7,900

One man band.Work 8-5 at a computer store and then on cars on the side for myself! I am a very tired individual. I dont make a ton of money but I try real hard to support my habit!
My girlfriend does not agree with it but she see's the reasoning. I give her her time here and there lol

Well I finally did a little street testing last night. On 13.5 psi of boost(the 8.9@152 passes) It will 100% hook from a footbrake dig. Now on 17+ it wont hold the road. I left it up at 19.5ish pounds and holy **** is this thing fast. Fastest thing Ive been in to date! I am excited to have data this weekend from the track
I cannot wait. I am going to wax the car tonight for being such a good car this week lol

Absolutely amazing job on the car, and great build thread. Really been a great read, thanks for the detailed and fun thread. Looking forward to new numbers! How do you feel about the added weight of the iron block? You seemed adamant about keeping that 100lbs off the nose, how does it feel now?

I absolutely would not run an iron block unless my power goals were 1,200+
I have done 900+whp 416ci ls3 nitrous builds bottom 8's with friends. The alum 5.3 is absolutely the turbo engine of my choice. pound for pound and dollar for dollar it cannot be beat.
Not sure how many of you know but my buddy Michael Capizzi has been 7.80/s@174 mph with a 100% oem bottom end l33. s485-gt55 turbo both into the 7's. That is amazing.
I firmly believe I would have put my car into the 7's with the 5.3 I ran last year. I was really sad about getting rid of it before completely maxxing it out.
A converter change from last year as well as the turbo that i currently run would absolutely fly on a 5.3
100lbs is 100lbs. That is a huge difference when you start getting up into power especially. For instance if my car is 3,200 even it takes 900hp to go 152 traps. If the car was 3,300 with nothing else changed it would only trap 150.4
In the end if going fast is the goal, weight is not our friend. The expense I paid for the extra 120lbs over (the dart block is 227lbs bare) was in case I was able to make 1,4-1,500 hp without issue. IT was a good upgrade in many ways. I have absolutely zero coolant pressure. IT really is a badass motor. I just made up in weight other places to account for it. Although without it id be 120 lbs less.

I mean a bulkhead separating the fuel cell from the driver.
Yes. I had the factory tank sumped the entire time with dual 10an bulkheads. I bought this cell with dual 8an so I just drilled the holes out for 10's. I just ran out and took a picture underneath for you. Nothing special but ive seen worse. I may refine everything over winter. Overall the setup is nice. Just a few loose ends to tie up from rushing as usual. After the loss of fuel volume there is about 100lbs to be saved. I usually filled my factory tank. So now if the cell is full. Its down a solid 100 with 8 gallons still in it.
