After reading those threads I tackled it. It was really easy, I didn’t use a torch to remove the valve. I used a 3” cut off wheel and that worked perfectly. It’s a soft metal.
So today, I replaced, both window motors and regulators. Wired up new switches and deleted all of the extra wiring that was in the doors. Trimmed and made new aluminum door panels. They look crappy, but they still have to protective plastic on them.
Thanks! Not yet, right now I’m working on rewiring the whole car. Im thinking about buying a hotrod wiring kit for just the essentials (lights, horn, wipers, etc). Trying to strip and rewire the factory harness to work without the BCM is a pain.
Factory harness is far from minimal, so that might be a time saver.
You got that right. I bought a universal wire kit for the power windows. It works great and was easy to use. Plus it got rid of what feels like 5lbs of wire. I think I might just go that route. Save me the headache and weight. Haha
Still at it, New Ac Delco water pump, knock sensors and gaskets for the intake. Still figuring out a harness to use for the chassis. I found a few on Amazon, that received good reviews. I may pull the trigger on one of those after the holidays. But here’s some pics of the LQ4. I’ll figure out alternator placement when I figure out what turbo manifold I’m going to use.
Just installed Comp Cams rocker Trunnions and Tick Performance Pushrods. Now that the engine is near completion. I have to get it in the car to mock up the placement of the turbos, manifolds, and piping. Anyone have any recommendations on a K member that will give the most amount of space for twin turbos? I was thinking about going with MWC's turbo K member.
Kmember fits great! Got the engine in. Only problem I’m running into at the moment are these turbo headers. They won’t work up and forward due to the strut towers and they won’t work down and forward because they block the steering shaft. Anyone have any recommendations on a pair of headers that fit these cars or should I use reversed truck manifolds? Which I have.
