Default Any Wilwood Superlite big brake kit users on here?

Like the title says, I'm looking at the 14" rotor, 6 piston front kit & the 12.8" rotor, 4 piston rear kit & was looking to see if anyone could answer some questions for me.

Thanks.

I have them on the front of my car (stock LS1 rears), but I am still working on completing my build, so I haven't driven on them yet. I used these since they were one of the only fixed calipers that would clear the back of my wheels. That, and hopefully bonkers stopping power.

How can I help? I carry Wilwood, by the way. But just because I do doesn't mean I will just automatically say they are perfect. We have lots of options, including one I do using C5 rotors with a Wilwood 4 piston for less money if that trips your trigger.

But, ask away.

So I will be ordering a set of Weld RTS wheels as well & I want to know what the exact offset is needed to make sure that I don't have to run a spacer to clear the caliper. Also I was just curious on how the ease of install was, if there were any issues with the ABS system, things like that.

I know that there are parts that I can piece together for cheaper, but I like the idea of a complete kit.

Thoughts?

Well, I also do the Welds so I can do it all. And I'm a big less than the big box stores on this stuff typically.

There is a diagram for the Wilwood kits showing what kind of room you need for the brakes. But no way can I just tell you an offset. No idea what size wheels you are looking at running, and offset is a function of that. But offset isn't the only condition. Not all wheels at X offset will clear the same brake kit, that depends a lot on the spokes and how they are shaped.

This is the kind of thing I do around here.

Offset is not what you should be concerned with for brake clearance with those wheels.

You choose offset for the wheel/tire fitment you desire.

You choose high, mid, or low pad for those wheels to determine spoke shape, for brake clearance.

Best bet is you're going to need look at all the pics of Weld RTS wheels to see what big brakes kits people are running. Then determine what calipers are are closest to the wilwoods. Then determine their wheel specs...pad, offset, etc.

Here's the wheel clearance guide that Sam was talking about. As I mentioned, they have some of the shallowest fixed calipers out there, so while the CTS-V Brembos would not fit my wheels, these do. I run 19" rims though, so you should make sure that the caliper will clear the inside of the wheel itself, since that is where mine are closest.

You can see some clearance pics from my build at the top of the page here.

Thanks for the help guys.

Sam, so on top of the brake kits listed, I'm wanting to go with the S71's, 18x9.5 up front with a 285/35/18 tire & a 18x10.5 out back with a 305/35/18 tire. I'm wanting as much lip as possible without the wheels sticking out too far.

That's pretty specific in a way I can't honestly answer. I think the best call on that would be to get with Weld directly, give them the Wilwood specs and then tell them what you want.. but I don't know they can know exactly what does and does not "stick out too far" on your car, or in your opinion.

Thanks. I sent them an email explaining what I'm looking for along with some examples of cars on here with a similar set-up.

Is there a specific person you work with directly at Weld?

No, I typically do them via my forgestar connections, because we do a lot more of those due to the cost.

I did get some of the RT-S on the website though.

Don't know if this will be helpful or not, but I believe the image below is something you're trying to avoid. I saw this recently on a very nice looking trans am. The wheel appears to be the 18x9 version of Year One's snowflake repops, over a big brake kit. I don't think the owner could slip a piece of paper between the two.

One pebble in the wrong place, and the day will go south in a hurry.

Or just when the bearing starts to fail. There has to be some gap there to avoid an issue and the wilwood charts for all their calipers/kits (and my kit using their caliper) take that into account.
