Need to remove PS header for bellhousing removal?
I see the bellhousing is hitting one of my primaries when I go to remove it. They are edelbrock headers, and it is right by the bump out for the starter. Do you think I need to remove/loosen it up, or just keep trying to squeeze the bellhousing by?

take the clutch cover off first? wouldn't that give you some room, if your taking it off anyway that is.. I had one similar and while I had the bell out I cut the flange off it where it blocked it to the header, there was barely enough meat there so it didn't open the starter to weather..
Measure 100 time cut once..
Cant get it clear of the dowels to spin it? Head scratcher..

I can't seem to rotate it with the starter there. I think if I remove the starter I could get it, but I can't get this stupid 15mm bolt out. It just sits and spins. Won't loosen or tighten, and seemed loose when I put the socket on it to start. I have never touched this bolt but I am not the original owner.

Any tips on getting to that? I tried to get my finger in there to see if I could feel a nut on top, but didn't have great success. Everything I read said that it was just 2 bolts to drop the starter.

Once off the dowels, you should have enough movement to know whether the header needs moved or not...I'd suspect not.
But it's unclear if you are saying the BH is stuck where it is, or whether you can move it ?
All the bolts should be easily accessible from the side you're taking the picture from

The bellhousing can move around but gets caught by that PS header pramiry and on the upper drivers side of the trans tunnel. I figured if I could rotate it counter clockwise I could get that bump out for the starter to clear the PS header. To do that though I need to remove the starter and it seems like the short bolt is stripped and won't come out.
Another option would be to remove the clutch as mentioned, but I'm not sure how that would work when putting it back together. I'm putting in a Monster LT1-S.

Well I got it. Here is what the bolt looked like, had to use a punch and hammer to get it out of the starter. Oddly enough the threads in the block seem ok, just have to get a new bolt now.
Once I got the starter out I was able to rotate the bellhousing to clear the header and it came right out.

It looks like a bunch of thread lock, it's red in color. I threaded the other starter bolt in to this hole and it went in fine so I think the threads in the block are ok.
