GM Perf Parts LS1 to LS6 Conversion Pkg
Thanks,
Tom
You can buy a set of very low milage LS6 heads, a LS6 cam, new head bolts and a whole gasket kit for the head and cam swap for less money then 1800 if you do some searching.
What will you gain with this? Probally a solid 30-40 RWHP.
IMO there are 2 sets of heads that will whip the **** out of stock LS6 heads for a similar price. TEA makes a stage 1 head for 995 and Patroit has a stage 1 or stage 2 for a similar price tag. All of which are CnC ported and will make more power then a LS6 head.
As far as cam goes. You option's are almost endless.
If you want a VERY stock sounding car try something like a 220/224 55x.55x 117LSA.
That would be stealthy as hell and give a nice gain over a LS6 cam.
Let us know your goals and budget and we can add some better suggestions.
There is a reason for that, and the reason ISN'T because the old combo was a better track combo.
The reason is you have more power and probally cant hook as well, have the wrong gear for the new power, weather conditions are worse, etc.
If you added a cam and picked up power through the band you should run a faster time. I bet your MPH was better....

The LS6 is acturally a damn nice cam.
I gained 20 RWHP in a 2002 A4 cars about 2 years ago with the cam.
Gained another 19 HP going with a 224/228 cam a few weeks later.
That is when I began doing my best to test different heads, and different cams in the LS1.
Monster duration and huge lift is not needed to make power. There are better cams then the LS6 cam that have great driveability, pass emmissions, sound stock, and still require a cheeper single spring.

I say go with something larger than a LS6 cam. I had a 224/224, and was fun and all, but i neeeded more, so I went with a G4x4. It pulls very nice and very drivable. Idles almost as good as my 224/224 on a 112, just wonders a little once in a while. I just need a larger converter to go with it.
It will make great power and be very drivable...
JZ said u could buy PP or TEA heads and save some coin.....
I'd have to agree,this would be a better option....GT2-3/TEA S1.5/Longtubes w/cats/PTB and Pulley
And a FMS 224/224 if you are trying to stay with a small cam. You will see way more power... and you will be in the same price range.
Heads: $1300
Cam : $400
Pushrods $100
Now add in a LS2 timing chain, maybe a new oil pump, and gaskets, headbolts and you will be rocking.
My version of the swap is about $200 more materials wise... but the gains you get over an LS6 swap is awesome.
