Default which LS1 components are interchangeable on LS2 short block?

Which LS1 bolt on components would be compatible on an LS2 short block. I am looking to put a new LS2 6.0 short block together and would like to re-use components from low-mile LS1. Can you use the same front rear covers and pulleys? What suggestiones regarding heads and valve train. How about ignition?...Thanks John

Same thing I do..I am waiting on someone can answer on your question. I also need to know because I have T56 6 speed manual (Former 2001 LS1) and plan attach to LS-2 block and put it on my 2002 Camaro.
My questions is:
1) Can use Camaro Flywheel and Clutch (former 2001 LS1)?
2) Can use Camaro Starter onto LS2 motor?
Thanks

Back cover and the clutch flywheel assembly is identical. And you may use the oil pan.

The front cover is unique and you must buy the LS2 parts.

hello i just finished mine. i got the ls2 from sdpc. i had them install a cam and timing chain and cover for a extra 50 bucks. there are a few other little things that you will need to know.
knock sensor will not get in the way of the headers depending where you put them. (there is a hole in the block near the rear of the block) i also wrap my sensors with the heat wrap.
you will need the lifter trays for the ls2

one side of the block will need to be shaved to fit the motor mount

you need to put washers on the windage tray because to crackshaft bolt will

not clear (this is for the 402)

headbolts will need to be changed

you need to get the cam sensor wire (racetronices)

timing chain and cover, valley cover, will be needed unless you buy from sdpc (they will give this to you )

thats about it. you might want to change your oil sensor while you engine is out. mine went out a week after the install and it took about 2 the change it. it only 40 bucks.

good luck

as for heads i have heard the afr 225 are very good but $$$$$ i also heard that the patriot heads are the best bang for the buck at 1,300
