theres so much hostility here, its funny as hell. these forums always turn out the same way. someone with a domestic will win a race against a "ricer" and everyone with an import has to justify it. yes, i own an import. im not a ricer, and unless everyone else here has the body kit, 5 color paint job, work bench mounted on the trunk, etc i don think they are ricers. ricers are those ******* who do think they are the **** with the 1.5l 4 banger with an intake and can and think they are god and try to start **** with every ohter car on the road. they are a problem for other import owners as well. just like there are those v-8 owners who act the same way with the fly bys and **** and you all know thats true. even with some domestice the "ricer "situation is more common with imort owner. everybody has their own opinions obviously. i love domestics but own an import. i think everyone just needs to lossen up, thats all.

 

what-ifs and fantasy races aren't intelligent responses. no one gives a rats *** about your scenario races. "what-if the RX7 had this" "what if the supra had that"? What if the cobra had a GE Turbofan strapped to the roof? Who ******* cares. What happened was an older, not-fast cobra beat some turd imports. There's nothing more to say about it other than "good kill" or "wow those cars are huge pieces of **** if an SN95 cobra can spank them."

I will agree with you when you say best bang for your buck because that is why I got mine after lots of research I decided my 10sec car would be a A4 F boby cause they are cheap to buy and cheap to modify but at heart I like fords thats why my DD is a 5F Cobra that will do 12s soon and will be terrorizing more serious ricer cars on the sreets of Japan soon enough.
For me I just dont like Holden fans they are low class ha ha.Go Ford Falcon........Bathhurst is soon.

Most WRX put down around 175awhp stock and run mid 14's.. My car is FAR from stock. I can tell you that unless you are cammed, sprayed or FI you aren't going to walk away from my WRX in the 1320. And by the end of summer I pushing for 11's. So before you knock someones ride you should atleast know who/what you are talking about. BTW what do you run the 1/4 in?

And there are many reason why I'm here on tech. 1st is I have an 86 IROC I was looking into how hard an ls1 swap would be. 2nd this is my first tuner car (the WRX that is) and 90% of my cars have been some form of Camaro, Firebird of Trans-Am.

hey, don't replace the motor in the iroc unless your going to store it. The iroc's are going to be considered collectors since they were only made for several years. I think it was 86-89, so you may want to keep it. I read the article from some gm magazine, damn, I can't remember now. My good friend's dad has one. He's got the original motor in the shed, lol. But he build one up to. I will see if I can get some pics. He took an old motor from the 70s I think to rebuild. Something about it having more nickel or something. Damn, I can't remember either, I got to call his dad now to find out. The car sounds nice, I'm tring to get him to put some headers on it.

What? I don't understand. He was right. I worked as an office assistant like 12-15 hours a week on call. But I don't anymore since I this spring when I had to take over most of the work at the greenhouses. And now I have to run most of it, so I have no time for anything else. We don't have anything at this time of year but I have plenty things to get ready. I didn't know I had that in my Occupation thing. But who cares? I don't get the owned part.

 

Yeah I still have the original LB9 305 TPI (190hp - 275tq) in it now. Mine is an 1986 IROC-Z with all it's original sheetmetal, wheels, trans and motor. It has 174k miles and runs just as strong as the day I got it (picked it up used with 50k on it).

I thought about restoring it and keeping it stock but the mid 80's Camaro is such a weak motor in terms of HP and a very common car. So then I tossed around the idea of gutting it and dropping an ls1 in it and making it a weekend drag car. Still thinking about doing this. And after watching the IROC in pinks on speed it makes me want to do it more. That car was insane.

Thats cool that you have an IROC, but it seems like you can always be found defending imports in the Street Racing/Kills section. If you like Domestics so much, why waste your time defending ricers?? Just accept that not everyone likes the same types of cars as you, and we are on a Camaro/Firebird site, so don't expect people to be raving about how great imports are.

 

I doubt you out trap a low 12 second car, whether AWD or not. What times have you run in your car and what trap?

 

The precise reason he's running low 12's (if he even actually is, he didn't say) is because of AWD. Its worth almost a full second in the 1/4 mile with an perfect launch. Look at the STI, it runs low 13's stock and only traps at 102MPH.

Not a full second, unless the car was all of a sudden FWD. They trap 102-103, but F-bodies only trap 106-107 with the same times.

BTW, he said above he was looking at 11's, already running low 12's. Unless I read that wrong.
