I personally have done work on Carrol Shelbys personal 68 GT500KR conv, Boyd Coddingtons Chezoom and the #38 69 ZL1 Camaro to name a few.

If we did take in every job and turned no one away like your talking about we would have no choice but to cut corners and quality to keep up with the work load. Were not about to do this, it takes years to get the reputation we have for doing great work and taking care of our customers but that reputation can be ruined in a matter of days.
Eh, yeah that was a bit narrow minded of me for sure. My gripe is this, I spent a lot of time looking into who could do the best work for my money and I dished out ALOT paint alone was about 4K, the guy had the car for four months and then it looked great but gave it back to me out of alignment, with tape lines in the door, the front fender still out of adjustment, he just made it a little better, and then a small crack that was causing the paint on the very underside of the fron lip to lift, didn't finish closing a small gap in the facia, the didn't know to reinstall the brackets that hold the rear trim panel in place.
Then he messed up the tint putting my old glass in a new deck lid, then further chipped in when it was on the car hauler.

I asked very politely if he could perform the services I asked. Anytime there was an issue I would humbly say, I'm not rich but if it can be done I'll pay for it. Even thanked the shop for apparently being so good about calling me and diong the work etc. Well that was the best shop in lafayette LA according to MANY people at car shows and who have already used that comany but I guess 12K couldn't cut it for those guys. After being ripped by many previous paint and body shops and seeing the huge commercial operations that have disregarded quality for a service that will just cover the "mess ups" because they have enough over head to do that. I've taken my blue collar hard earned blood money and my sore *** hole home. I'll do the damn work myself. I never nit picked anyone or was rude, just the opposite I didn't want to sound cocky so that they would screw me over. Just my two cents and I have passed my cross on it. Every bit of admiration for man who puts in a damned good days work and it proud of what he does for a living which is what it sounds like you are saying to me! I just am a little disgruntled about that industry and have passed my cross on it. You are very correct i took your comment very much out of context and it was rude of me and an ill formed conlusion based on your comment.

If I had the option to repaint my car any color I'd go with either SOM or a non-factory color like DSG, even if it is a ford color.

The owner of the body shop isnt going to be happy about running up his material bill and losing profit on the job so you can have a custom paint job.

The only time I ever saw a car that had "every panel" scratched was when the owner did it to try to get a free paint job....lol
The person that keyed my car got every body panel including the mirror housings and the rear bumper.

it went from this

to this

SOM/Black 2 tone with a sebring silver stripe to set it off. Looked good... would have looked better on an SS though.

I like the SOM personally. Def do somthing now while the car is in the shop. I had my car keyed earlier this year and here is what I decided to do. Instead of paying the bodyshop the 500 deductible, I gave them 750 instead and got some viper blue metallic flames done. here is a pic.
