i have a 98 z28 and it already has 373 gears, 160 thermostat, flowmaster exhaust, k&n intake (not just filter) and it has been tuned with a hypertech programmer.....what should i do next to get some more hp out of this thing and roughly how much would it cost?

Are you auto or M6? You also state "to get more horsepower", but is that your real goal or are you looking for a quicker car? ie better track times? You need to give more info on your car and goals.

Power-wise:
Long Tubes and an ORY or hi flow cat. Anywhere from $500 -$2000 depending on what brand and if you do the labor yourself or not.

You can also do a pulley for a few hundred dollars. Easy install to possibly pick up a few ponies.

LS6 Intake will be a must at some point.

Ported throttle body, MAF. There are a lot of little bolt-ons, some designed to give you more power and some designed to make you quicker (ie launching, traction, etc). Some are for neither and are just to help your car not break, like subframe connectors. Lower control arms and relocation brackets for about $200 plus install will help with traction, but you need DRs first. If you're auto, a stall is a must, if M6, get a new shifter. The stock one isn't the greatest.

Etc, etc.

1. Longtube headers
2. LS6 intake manifold
3. better catback exhaust
4. a proper dyno tune

Given the above, my brother's 98 put down about 350 RWHP.

The dyno tune will probably help out a lot if you plan on staying bolt-on only for a while and already have long tubes and some other bolt-ons, but if you plan on a cam anytime soon, I'd hold off so you don't spend the money twice.

As for the catback, I read mixed reviews depending on which Flowmaster you have. You really can't beat the sound most of them, but they don't seem to be the best flowing catback out there.

mine is auto and i would like to make it quicker and faster...i dont have a whole lot to spend right now so what would be the best thing to do without thousands of dollars to throw into it...i also heard with a new pully i would have to replace a different one for the accesories in my car to funtion normally, is that true?

I'd save up for some headers First .
then do cam ... stall .... intake ... gears ....

you could do a set of gears get some 3.73's of corse you need to tune that so your spedo isnt off I think that hand held you have can do that. Or a nice shift kit would be nice look at transgo shift kits I'd do one of those befor I got a pully, and I have a pully.

I'd say a grand is what you need to start messing around

do exhaust first, then pulleys, intake go with all the bolt on stuff first that wont require youo to get a custom tune...

If you're looking to replace the catback without spending a ton of money, Magnaflow makes good power and sounds sick (have one on my car and LOVE the sound) without spending $900 on a Borla or more on a Corsa. I would do some research on your particular model of Flowmaster before you go changing it, though. Some of the newer ones don't flow as poorly as everyone thinks they ALL do. Your money might be better spent on other bolt-ons.

I would start of with some headers and then the next step would be a stall! Not an expert here but that is how i did mine and i am very happy with the current results. My next step is a cam.

i would get a cutout they are like $25 and a shop can install one for like $40 so you are looking at $65 or so dollars and you will pick up in the area of 10 horsepower. Throttlebody porting and polishing with Throttle body bypass will gain you another 8 or so any you can port it yourself and the tb bypass will only cost $7.

Lid, stall, headers and a cutout. The stall will make a huge difference! That would be a good starting point!
