Default Have some pics of the car (about time)

Pictures taken with a disposable digital camera.

Car now has a K&N Xstream filter top, red MSD rotor going in to replace the gold one and Moroso 8.5 race wires.

Car has 26k original miles, I took some pictures on the interior but it seems they decided not to develop them. Car has every factory option and they all still work minus the deleted A/C.

Engine bay was a little on the dirty side.

Anyone know if the 83's came with the head light area painted black like the other third gens?

I know that's not true. There's an '82 daily driver POS around here that has black headlight pockets. My friend's RS had black pokets. Very, very few cars didn't that I've seen.

As I understand it, it was an option on most if not all models. Don't know weather the option is to have them painted black or not painted black, but I think it was the former.

Most often if they aren't painted black, I suppose it's likely because the car suffered front end damage and the owner didn't have the pockets re-painted.

See last line of my Sig

Going to look into the pockets more, I know the front GFX was repainted because it had to get put on a flat bed once and the guy did not know what he was doing, wonder if the original owner just had it all painted red... who knows Ill find out.

Ill be ticked if I find out it WAS an option and my car has every option but that. I can't see someone getting eerything but that though.

My 86 V-6 car has them, know that pretty much all the IROCS's and Z's had them, just not sure on the older ones.

I'm 90% sure the car has been repainted, raced every weekend for years with the dude that built it. Options don't mean much, it's not original, it doesn't matter one bit what it started out as. It doesn't have the original motor, trans or rearend, originality is a moot point.

if all of it was re painted it was pre kevin. from looking at it i see no evidence of a repaint at any place. do know that one peice was painted. just like having a loaded car with everything that works a lot of other people like that in the car too. to each his own. the car does have some rough spots from racing. from what everyone else has told me everything but tha hood and at least that gfx has original paint. who knows

My first car was an '84 Z and it didn't have the black headlight buckets. But I can't swear it wasn't repainted somewhere along the way.

I started this thread on third gen, http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/hi...ml#post3640615

Scott Moyer is known as one of the bigest third gen camaro wiz's in the country. If he says they all came bacl then they did and it just means my entire bumper got re-ainted when the GFX was done, that would explain why the color matches perfectly.

Another thing is that there is a rust spot on the left front wheel well. My 86 had the same rust spot in the same spot but had eaten threw the paint. Its light enough that any body shop would have sanded it down and made it go away prior to paint and its under the paint. Also with the car the way it is I can't see someone not wanting to go the extra mile with a repaint and just leave the only rust spot on the car. One of the strut towers has a bit of rust also thats could be fixed with some sanding, that also is pretty typical.

For whatever reason it it was repainted the engine was or or masked very well along with all the other odds and ends because I see no color shade changes or over spray on anything at all.

Going to have a guy on here fix the rust spot and other little odds and ends and paint the buckets at some point. Maybe next summer after its caged and all.
