I did it with a 25 cent resistor from radio shack.

Can you explain more? What resistor and where? Are you still able to detect true knock? Have you tried advancing the timing and actually still record KR when too far advanced?

I think he means that he deleted the knock sensor.

I didn't delete it all together. I put it on a two way switch. In the first position it still works normally. In the second position it grounds through the resistor and bypasses the knock sensor. I drive around with it in the first position and only bypass the sensor when I'm at the track keeping it cooled down between runs.

I found the instructions on how to do this online.

You'll have to settle for a crude drawing. It kinda reminds me of something one might find on the wall of a cave.

so its just a 2 way switch tapped into the + wire for the knock sensor with a resistor wired to the frame/a ground?

That's it! Just make sure one position sends the signal to the knock sensor and the other position sends it to the resistor. I tested the switch with a test light to make sure that I was hooking it up right.

I actually ended up with a three way switch that has an off position in the middle. The off position will cause lot's of spark retard and knock an easy 10 mph off you trap speed. I learned that the hard way.

You should realize that when using this, it will only eliminate problems associated with false knock. It will not eliminate real knock. It eliminates the PCM from pulling timing due to false knock.

It actually eliminates the pcm from pulling timing due to any knock. Real or false. It would definetly be prudent to rule out the presence of real knock before trying this.

The original poster asked how to get rid of knock, not how to fool the PCM into thinking it has no knock. People will get the wrong idea unless it is mentioned that this mod is only good for false knock. Doing this mod and then getting true knock will damage the motor.

first you rneed to find out if you actually Have Knock.

If it is fake Knock then I would do it in the tuning. This has always been a problem on cars with LTs.

This lead us to figure out how the Low Octain mode(YES LTx cars have it) work on an LTx car. The way we have found it to work is is you ever hit a particular number in the knock it goes into and STAYS in Low octain mode untill you restart the car.

on the cars we race we zero out the low octain tables. Then chart and re build the timing tables

shold i zero out the low octane tables? i never do use anything less than 93.

i think that my knock is false because does it with
39 degrees timing o2 reading 960 with 93 pump gas

I does it with 39 degrees timing o2 reading 960 with 100pumpgas

I does it with 36degrees timing o2 reading 960 with 100 pump gas

it does it with 32 degrees timing 02 reading 920 with 100 octane and with a 15 percent reduction in the knock attack table.

all in the range of 4-4.4k rpm 90 percent of the time. once in a while it will do it at 3.6k rpm too.

I pray you're joking o_0

If you run 93 and still get knock, do you have headers? Do you have the LT4 Knock Module (94-97 only)? Have you tried desensitizing the sensor? Is your coolant temp sensor bad and reporting a different engine temp to the computer?
