So if i dont care about TCS, cant i just swap the complete 4 channel rear in place of my old 3 channel rear and abs will still work correct with the 2 sensors connected in the backing plates? Or for ABS to work properly i need to go off the reluctor wheel on the ring gear as stated how to do in this thread.

You will have to follow the instructions outlined at the beginning of this thread, or abs no worky.

Why? Why cant it just go off the sensors in the backing plates? The big 4 pin female connector mounted the body has 4 pins on it. The 4 channel rear has a 4 pin male connector.
Now the 3 channel rear that was in the car only had a 2 pin male connector.
So im thinking nothing changes except the fact if you had TC or not. But maybe not im not sure thats why im asking here.
If doesnt work it doesnt work, but has anyone pluged all of this in and turned on the car to see if the ABS light was on or not? Most likely that is what i will try tommaro...
Thanks,

I've always wondered about it just never tried because i don't have a 4 channel rearend at my disposal. My Only concern is the programing in the ABS Module might be different between the two different rearend setups, im not sure about this just a thought. But it would defently be nice to do because that means 3 channel guys can easily convert to 4 channel and run a 9'' all while keeping there ABS functional.

Do i need to remove any of the internal parts like gears etc? Any way to possibly do this at home ? I'd rather not take any of the internal parts off cause then it's a real pain in the *** to get it aligned correctly right?
I got a 4 channel rear for free w/ 3.43 gears and my girlfriends v6 rear is whinning and has 3.08 w/ 3 channel thanks!

I see what your saying here and was thinking the samething.

I would also like to add tracion control eventually as well since it is my daily driver and will be driven in the winter I will need traction control for those snowy/icy day's!!!

So i know several ppl having been saying that you have to fabricate the axle tube a bit to get the 4 channel sensor to fit on the 3 channel rear. Not sure if its a year thing though because i just bought a 2002 3 channel rearend and it was a direct swap no problem at all for my 4 channel axles and hardware. had the groves already on the axle tubes no grinding required just a thought.

Hey,
What I'm doing is swapping everything from an 01 Z28 into my 88 Camaro, (full driveline, harnesses, , and dash) and and the rear end from the 01 is a 4 channel (ASR and ABS). I'd like to eliminate both in my swap as I do not have ABS in the 88 to begin with and the 01 front hubs would be impossible to swap. And the ASR I don't care either way but if I need to keep it I will.
Like I said I will be using the ECM and BCM from the 01 but what else, other than idiot lights, will happen if I just simply disconnect/remove the ABS sensors and/or the ASR?
Thanks, Art

reviving this thread!!! heres my question. so to get abs to work and keep all my dash lights off, all i need to do is drill that hole and stuff the abs sensor in it, right? will i need to change axels or do any other mods? and can i leave all the guts (ring, posi, etc) inside while i do it? (and just be careful not to drop in metal shavings) or will stuff be in the way?

Why cant you just extend the 3 channel harness to reach 1 of the 4 channel wheel speed sensors? The only problem i see is that the axle not pluged up would not activate the abs if it locks up,but it would turn the abs light off and in most cases it would work ok.Has anyone tried this/can anyone verify this?
