Default AD244 on LT1?

I see lots of threads upgrading to an AD244 alternator from a 99-04 truck. Most of these threads appear to be LS1 powered f bodies. Can these alternators be used on a 94 LT1?

If not, what's the go-to upgrade for us step children?

How much POWER do you need ?
I downgraded to an old style 10SI one wire, self excited: Simple, 75 Amps is plenty for Fuel pump, headlights and Heater.
ONE Single 8 gauge wire.
Trade number: 7127SE
Also available in a 105 Amp model
7127SE-105
Cheap and easy.
Your local Auto-Electric rebuilder should stock them.

Do you not have electric fans as well?

As to how much power I need, more than zero, which is what my current alternator makes. The threads I've read on the AD244 swaps were doing it for reliability, not always for more power.

I also have acces to a 2001 Yukon parts rig so it would be pretty much free to swap.

Interesting idea on the 10si. Does it bolt right up to the LT1 brackets? Did you have to change the pulley or anything?

I went with a Mechman alternator. 250 amps and no need to hook it to the PCM like an AD244.
