I have a 2001 ls1 with 243 heads small cam and has been tune (i bought it used) with a t56 in my corvair. idle is usually slow to come down to idle (900 rpm). after a cruise above 55mph it idles at 1500rpm till i turn off the key , then most of the time it will come back to idle . any ideas ? thanks

 

Has it done this since you owned it? If so... sounds like it needs a better tune. Post over in the LS PCM and Tuning forum Here

 

That would be a Tune that needs to be corrected.

 

I bet the 900 rpm idle is the crux. Revs will hang if an idle is too high. Too much air going through the idle air control valve.

i changed out the iac and went into the pcm and set the idle to 800, seemed to help it return to idle but haven't had a chance to drive it yet.

 

Thanks for the reply. When you say "small" cam... tell us the specs. 800 is still pretty high for a small cam.
