I shortened an 8.8 Ford rear axle for my 2000 Camaro. Ordered 35 spline axles from aftermarket and got them to press on the bearings and rings. This required having the brake caliper brackets installed first, so I bought a pair from them. Everything was fine---installed everything and did some local drive around to get the engine tuned. It's loud. About 2 weeks ago, I made a drive around the block and my fuel pump failed. My son came and towed me home. While I was sitting in the Camaro on the hook, I kept hearing something like the brakes dragging. After I got the fuel pump fixed, I jacked up the rear and tried to spin the rear wheels. I could barely turn them. Thought it might be the trans---unhooked the driveshaft---nope, still hard to turn. Pulled off a rear tire, pulled off the caliper, looked at the rotor and on the back side there was some deep grooves. Wasn't the pads---looked at the bolts, and there was one bolt longer than the other.. That long bolt was up against the rotor. BOTH SIDES!! Evidently the OEM brackets are thicker under one bolt and the aftermarket brackets are the same thickness. And I don't remember, but I used the smaller LT calipers and rotor and maybe these bolts are from the 2000 Camaro brackets. If the fuel pump had not quit, I would still be running with the bolts against the rotors. Now I can run 9's. LOL
