Default LS1 F body Shop in Pennsylvania

Hello All. Haven't been on the site for a long time. Need to sort out some stuff on my 99 SS. I was hoping for some recommendations for F bod shops in eastern PA (preferable greater Philadelphia suburbs). Getting a bit to old and inflexible to get under the lowered car.

Thanks in advance!

Nick

Pretty sure there is a LS shop in Pottstown area. And a bit more north is Matt (sloppymechanics.com) He runs a chassis dyno.

I've been having trouble here myself. Decided to start doing work to the car again and no one will touch it. Seems like every shop around here is European or newer Corvettes. I'm still doing some digging. I'll let you know if I find one. What are you looking to have done?

What are you looking to have done? Unfortunately, a lot of the old go-to shops have moved on to newer vehicles and won't even touch Gen III stuff anymore.

Head/Cam/intake upgrade and the little odds and ends that go with that. Then dyno tune. I found that the dyno tune is the part no one will touch. I just linked up with a shop in Pottstown that will take on the project later this year. So success there. But they won't dyno tune it unless I upgrade to the torquehead 24x system. Everything will be opened up for the rest of the work so it's not the worst idea in the world. But the purest in me wants to maintain the opti as long as it's working. Which is blasphemy, I know. But if I go that route, mail order tune is the only option. No one will tune the LT1 pcm around here, I've found.

Default Still looking

I'm still looking for a shop, although I'm taking it in to a local shop that I've never used before, fingers crossed. Up until now I've done all my own wrenching.

Immediate needs are power steering hose replacement (hose discontinued by GM), CP sensor replacement/diagnostics, ebrake adjustment.
Next would be some suspension sorting & 4-wheel alignment.
Located near Norristown, PA.

Thanks, Nick

I feel like you should be all right with most of that. That's pretty standard repair. I have no problem getting that type of stuff performed myself.

I just got turned away from yet another body shop that has no interest in doing some paint work. This car is about to go to maaco. I know that's blasphemy, but the reality is, they will do it. And these local shops? They simply will not do it. I suppose the souless corporation will get the money. My expectations are pretty low. It just needs to be presentable and then I'm going to put protective film over it so that it stays that way. The car gets driven 50 mi a year in only nice weather and just sits in the garage the rest of the time. It's baffling that no one wants an easy payday.

Yes but how does one get a hold of him? I've messaged him on FB, and emailed from sloppymechanics.com with no response. Sucks because he's local to me.

Thanks! I’m in Norristown but familiar with Lehighton area. It would be a bit of haul but please send me his contact info and web link, if he has one.

FWIW, I found a guy in Ntown who did my HP PS hose and replaced the PCM with a refurbed one for a little over $500, which solved my high temp shut off problem. Before he did that he put an aftermarket crank position sensor at my request which did not solve the problem. Funny thing is he gave me back the one he took out in it plainly said made in china on it. I bought this car brand new and never replaced the original. Not sure what to make of that. Anyway, this guy is a 1-man shop and doesn’t mind doing stuff beyond oil changes and inspections, which is what a lot of the old school 1-man shops prefer to do. Moreover, he is a good diagnostician and his prices are fair. I’ve always done all my own wrenching including engine internals and swaps, etc. In case anyone else is looking for these types of services in the area. I have almost never had a good experience with stealerships or chain stores.

If he's local, drive over to his shop.

I reached out to his business email, fb page, and personal fb all went unanswered. He responded in my post on sloppy mechanics about looking for a tuner...did not offer up his shop/services
