Default FI Tech engine management system.......anyone use it?

For an F1-A-94 or a T6 single turbo.

Just curious if this is a good ECU option..........

I don't know anything about the FI Tech unit but the Haltech Rebel LS is an incredible value for the money.
Super easy to install, tons of I/O's and crazy how customizable it is.

I'd suggest you stick with Holley or maybe Fuel Tech.

There are so many Holley users out there you ask on FB if you have an issue (like first startup) and you'll get it figured out no problem.

Can the factory gauge cluster work normally with the Haltech?

Holley terminatorx is the go to, xmax if you need trans control. But i want to try the haltech rebel like nicd, and fueltech is another great option.

Depending on what vehicle youre working on the cluster may work on its on. Or you can leave the factory pcm and its gauge sensors and just add the aftermarket ecu to run the engine and trans if needed. Piggyback they call it I think. I dont know of any aftermarket ecu that will play nice with the oem clusters that use canbus. The digital dashes are really nice also

Ok, so that would be good. Just keep the fuel, temp, volts, oil press, tach and speedo and leave the 1998 PCM in there untouched. And yes, i will need my 4L80E to be controlled by the aftermarket ECU.

Ok, so Holley Term X seems like the way to go.

Be nice to have a guru ls tuner down here like we see in other places around the country.

.....and i'm just one of those guys that likes the factory gauges. But.....what are some nice digital guages that fit nicely in our cars. i'll take a look.

Not much experience with fbodys, but i know 98 was different from the rest when it came to gauges. Check out holleys site, they sell plates that replace the cluster for the 6.86, or the 7 or the 12 inch screens. If you use a holley ecu I would stick with a holley dash. There are others that are compatible but I like to keep them the same.
where abouts is down here? There are holley guys all over the US. And its a super simple interface with tons of info online

Maybe someone makes a bezel for the 4th gen? I've got the Holley screen in my '67.

You can make a 4th gen dash work with Holley via a dakota box.

Where are ypu located to make you say be nice to have an ls guru down here? There's plenty guys all over the world with high level tune capabilities. Also you can use your factory dash, get a holley terminator x max ecu then go on current performances website and get an integrated harness so you can keep you factory ecu also. Thats how my truck is done and everything on the dash works as it should. Id suggest getting a few pressure sensors as well so you can monitor things like, fuel pressure, trans line pressure, oil pressure, all through holley.

Just did the Holley with factory gauges and in reality, is decently simple. If you are into wiring can do it yourself or do like I did and reach out to someone like Current Wire Performance and have them do a harness to integrate with the Holley or have them do up a full harness that incorporates it all. Only catch is running two ECT sensors and Oil pressure gauges.

I had considered doing a digital Holley dash, but a square in a semi circle just wasn't visually appealing to me.

I'm not sure on that but originally, I wanted to keep my factory gauges but now I'm very glad I went with the Haltech screen.
Before I had separate AFR, Boost, Fuel gauges and then the factory cluster, now everything is in one place, its infinitely configurable, very high quality plus provides lots of extra I/O's for more items like fans, pumps, sensors, etc.
There is no reason to keep the factory gauges these days, you could buy a Tinker Screen to save a few bucks on the screen but imo it doesn't look as good.

I know a few tuners but they just don’t seem like they’re top dogs like I see on this forum, they haven’t tuned with Holley they only heard it’s a good ECU…….tuners at LMR, Katech, and other shops outside of Florida with big names are what I want. I’d fly a tuner in and get them a hotel if I have to.
