Default Curious if anyone had Brake performance/Pedal feel issues after cam install?

Hi,
Just curious if anyone had any issues with their Brakes performance , Pedal feel or anything after install. My car isn't finished yet but was just wondering. After my build is done I am hoping my brakes are the same as they were as the system worked perfectly performance and feel wise. BTR stage 3 PDS cam and LSA motor and Charger.
I run factory ZL1 Brakes.

if you have power brakes and the new cam is very radical, your brakes will feel harder due to lack of idle vacuum.

Yep. There are a few fixes but I think most just up the idle some.

All my aftermarket camshaft installs (currently) have Hydro-Boost...

Possibly you have a leaky check valve on your manifold vacuum line where it pushes into the booster can?

That cam will lose a TON of idle vacuum.

I have a bigger cam than that in my LS3 and I have ZERO issues with braking. 233/255 w/113 LSA. You have the same car as I do, basically, so I would suspect you will not have any problems.

I'm running a similar cam in my 80 Camaro with a LS swap. 225I/230E @.050. No problem brake wise but I'm running big discs all around so I'm guessing that helps.

I have a 246 / 258 on a 114 650 lift in a NA 455LS motor and the brakes are fine. However, the C6 Corvette has a dual diaphragm 12-inch power booster which helps. I have 10 inches of vacuum at idle. So, some of this will depend on your power booster. Compression helps with idle in NA motor with big cam I am 12 to 1.

243/251 on a 115 and .661 NA 427 and I have about 13" of vacuum. Brakes work but they're not good enough and I need to make some changes

254/268 in the Chevelle…solid roller…with 10” of vac at idle. Brakes are awesome but I’m also running Wilwood 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears. I have to get a little heat in them to be optimal, but that’s my pad compound, not a vacuum issue.

If you need some vacuum help a Leeds vacuum pump works great and its quiet. Comes on automatically you never know it is there.

Overlap. The more overlap…or reversion…the lower the vacuum signal will be.

I wouldn’t worry at all about your brakes with your cam. I was worried about the same thing with my cam when I first installed it in my 4th gen fbody 245/250 113+4 with 21.5 degrees of overlap idling at 900 and my pedal is a little bit harder then stock but brakes completely fine. I have waaaayyyy more overlap then you do in my 403 stroker

Just turn the idle up a little bit. It will be just fine. I have a cam with 26.5 degrees of overlap in my C6Z and the brakes are fine with the idle at 900.
