Unhappy UH-OH did I blow my 4L60E tranny?Help

On my way home I jumped on it from a 45 role, and let off the gas and all of a sudden it wouldnt go into Over drive ,It seems ok normal driving In(D)except when taking off it takes a while to shift into 2nd light excelleration like 3200 rpms ,seems to go into 3rd ok and veter locks up.But when I am rolling 40 45mph and nail it ,its like I am in Neutrol?I hit the rev limI checked the fluid ,it is full and not burnt ,no unusual noises either.I have a Built 4L60e with a vacuum modulator ,I checked the vacuum line and all seems intact?I also have a Yank SS4000 Verter. Please Help

Wait this didnt happen right after you took TM off did it?
I have a built 4L60 as well, with 3500 converter, and one day while tuning, I completely removed TM and after about 3 runs I was like WTF? Same exact thing you describe. Kevlar band SNAPPED right at the rivets!!!!

And my tranny is also vacuum modulated!

Hmmmm

4l60.com sent me a new band for free and put that in and put TM back to normal and its been fine since, about a month now no probs...

Yep ,What a coincidence ,The EXACT same thing, only mine was a couple of weeks and NO hard runs at the track or anything,It was mostly from a roll 40 on up,after I did it I was like WTF,my OD was N My Trans guy is got it apart found it was the Kevler bands, and should have me back on the road tomorrow,I will not be jumping on it until my TM is back in The thing is that my Trans guy built my tranny back in Oct 2001 and I have had no issues until the TM was removed! So that is enough for me ,I cant keep doing this or I will be broke in no time.....

Wow, this is very interesting. Did you burn or break your band? I think you broke your 2-4 band like me?????????????

This happened to both of us, with built trannys, soon after the TM was removed.....

btw how much power is going through yours, ~ 415?? Mine is boosted, about 600Tq, which I know is high for a 4L60, no matter how built it is! But the fact remains, there is something that TM is doing to hold it together?

Replacing the band was only a "band aid". There is a reason why the bands are breaking, not because the transmissions is a POS. Your builder needs to find out why they are breaking.

Yes,that could be true. How much power would this trans take?Power is in my sig on a Mustang dyno ,which is roughly around 450 rwhp and probably a little over 400 rwtq on a dynojet...

They can handle much more than that. Billet Servos and blocked off accumulators are one of the biggest band busters.

TeamTripp ,It isnt the Bands car is fine know after sitting all night?I do know my Tranny guy took the bolts out of my flywheel ,between the wheel and conveter ,He said the purpose of that was so it didnt wreck the pump?and He also said that it wasnt close enough to wreck the pump? But since he took out the bolts the car is kind of different now,It locks up light(not as much pressure)and when I ran the car it was really wierd,It shifted into 2nd from 1st way to soon?Is it these bolts or something else?
Thanks!!!!

I can't imagine what bolts he was talking about. The flywheel is bolted to the torque converter. Sometimes people put washers between the flywheel and converter to make sure it makes contact with the pump rotor, but I don't see that changing how it shifts. I think there was either a mis-communication, or something is being left out...
