Default 4.8 vs. 6.0

whats the difference in the blocks, can a 4.8 be bored to the size of a 6l? search isnt working for me for some reason. i figure its on here somewhere

I"m almost positive that the biggest bore you can go on a 4.8 block is 3.905". The 6.0 block is 4.000" and can be maxed out to 4.060". I'm not sure what the difference is in the blocks...

the 4.8 and 5.8 have the same block though

Fixed that for you

some 5.3/4.8 (which, btw is how they are labled on the back of the block) have been bored out to accept 5.7L pistons, in effect creating an iron block LS1. But that is pusing the limits, you might as well get a 6.0L and roll with it if you are looking for an iron block
