Default What she run?

I have a buddy that has a Trans Am that weighs 3,000lbs with him in it. His setup is 6l iron block, all safety equipment. Its a 370 all forged internals, 12:1,stage 3 heads and cam, solid roller, with all race bolt ons about 750-800rwhp and about 900rwtq on gas. How fast do you think his car will run on ET Drags and wheelie bars?

Thats the ultimate goal after we get all the teaks out of her. But I think it might take a little time to get her to launch the way we need her to. But for right now we are after low 9's. Is there any 6.0l iron block in the 8's?

My '70 1/2 Rally Sport with the same HP and weighing 3000lbs with me in it ran 9.32 @ 147. My 60' was not that great, low 1.30's with ladder bars. It will all be in the 60'. My buddy had the same power, more weight 200lbs, but a better 60' 1.29 and ran about the same. He had less MPH. I don't think you can get an 8 out of that car with that weight & HP. If he does, excellent job. Are you sure about those TQ numbers, I was running a 477" BBC with the same HP and mine was way less than that.

No the torque #'s are not exact. Those are a baseline. It will be less then that I think. What are the best products to drop that 60? We were going to let Madman take care of all that stuff.

I ran front and mid plates on my car. My friend Al just had solid mounts. His car twisted more than mine, but it still ran a 9.40. I had a better cage and ladder bars. He had leaf springs and the next size bigger tire. I myself really like having motor plates, less stress on the block and makes the front solid. I had to make custom headers to clear the mid plate, but I didn't care, I knew I was going to hit mid 8's on spray. He never sprays, so he wanted to go the cheapest way, and he bought off the shelf headers. (Hooker).

That probably is something that depends on the rest of the chassis setup, if you have a killer & stiff chassis already, u might not need the extra help. Just for more info, I know parts have gotten stronger, but after I started low 10's I started hurting my Turbo 350, snapped input, hurting clutches ect. I had to go with a 400. I went with a glide to help tame down the launch after I hit 1000+ HP.

Hope I helped, good luck, have fun.

Thanks bro for the info. The tranny should hold up with all the parts we put it in. One of my buddies has already gone low 9's on the same setup of tranny. If I do brake it I will not even bother with a th400, I will go strait to a glide and motor plates then and maybe a bigger motor. I am hoping I wont have to do any of that till late next year.
