Default cam opinion

a buddy of mine has a 71 nova with a 10.0 to 1 355, vortec heads, dual plane air gap intake, 670cfm carb, and a 230/230 .480 .480 110lsa. It has a th350 trans with a 3500 stall. He wants to put a bigger cam in that can utilize the converter better, make more power, and still have a nasty idle. The car is mainly street driven with occasional track use. Streetability is not to much of a concern. He is thinking about a 234/244 .488 .510 114lsa. What do you guys think? Any other suggestions?

I've used this one in similiar cars with good results. The 670 carb is going to have to go though.

If he goes much bigger with a cam, he will be wasting time with those vortec heads.

Also do you have any times or numbers with your similar cars? Maybe even a video?

I ran low 12's in a 75 nova with a 357, ported vortecs (906's), 11:1 SCR, 8.4:1 DCR, perf RPM airgap, 750 vac sec Holley. 3200 stall speed, 3.73 gears, street tires, RMVB th400.
2 1/4 dual exhaust.

It idled pretty mean due to the 110 lobe sep, going with the 114 you have listed will idle not as rough.

I wouldnt run that cam, 114 dont work well on a 350. looks like a summit cam. I would run a solid myself, i havent looks at sb cams for awhile, but if you have to run hydralic i would get something around 236 intake 242 exhaust on a 108 or 110.
