Default what is necessary to replace a roller block with a flat tappet???

For my boat that is. It has an 01 Chevy 350 roller Vortec style engine in it. I bought a rebuilt bottom end from a guy that swore it was a roller engine, and come to find out it is not. I guess I got a brain fart when I looked at it and didnt think to pull a lifter out to see. He seemed pretty knowlegeable so I kinda took his word for it.

What do I have to do to make it work?

This is the second attempt at this(first complete engine has a dead cylinder) and I need it in the water soon, I have vacation coming up and dont wanna be working on this damn thing during that time.

So, what does it take to replace it with another factory style roller cam? Or another flat tappet?
