Default distributor gear q?

this is for the engine in my truck. I previously had a mildly modded 350 with a hydro roller cam installed. with that I got the correct dristributor gear to match. The motor took a turn for the worse, and I'm putting a stock motor back in for now which has a tappet cam. I can't remember for the life of me remember what I did with the old gear, and when I look for a new one they are for roller cams. would really matter if I didn't switch back? I'm understanding that one is softer than the other to prevent damage.

.

A mild daily driver that will see thousands of miles needs a stock gear.
