What to rev limit SBC
What to rev limit SBC I currently have a SBC in a 2nd gen camaro that I want to know if I can bump the rev limiter. The motor has a 474/510 lift roller cam with GM bowtie 1.6 aluminum roller rockers. Valve springs are the GM orange silicone springs on 58cc corvette heads. My current rev limit is set to 6000. The motor revs extremely fast and wants to keep going. I think 6400-6500 would be safe. I do have a 6AL box too. I have plenty of air and fuel to fee the motor.
I spin the 4-bolt main, balanced assmbly, 10/10 cast crank, powderd rods W/arp bolts and forged speed pro slugs, to 6700.
I run a melling hv55 oil pump and have great pressure, I'd base it on that lol.

A lot of stock pistons don't have the material under the pin for high RPM running. As you can see from the picture, would you run those pistons very high?
Really if the car/engine isn't designed to to that high of rpm you are more than likely not going to gain anything. Winding up the engine might sound great but usually by that point you're making less power than before.
