Default Camshaft help

Here's the build so far. Scat forged 408 sbc with 13.1 pistons with the new AFR 20 heads. Super Victor intake with a AED 1000carb. Block is a GM with splayed PRO Gram caps and block was filled prior to machine work. This is a strip only build I want to spec a solid roller camshaft to get the best power out of the heads.

Car is a 79 malibu with fiberglass nose doors trunk lid. Ford 9" gears to be determined Th400 with brake. converter to be determined after dyno session.

I assume your heads are 205cc not 20 but still to small to reap the FULL benefits of the 408 cubes at 13 to 1. 27X 28X split dur and .63X .65X maybe .67X lift is tops before the heads run out of steam at 6800 rpms. 225 or 235's would make huge power and support a .72X cam up to 7400 rpms. Being 13 to 1, I figure this won't be a pump gas street motor at all being filled.

Sorry but the heads are the AFR220 the new ones thet are cnc ported. I hope to reach the 600hp mark.

With a 408 Id say 260 @ .05 at a min... Joelster built a 414 LT1 Id look him up to pick his brains

yea thanks I spoke to a couple of cam grinders and looks like I will go with what they speced out. A single pattern 715 lift 280 at .050 on a 106 center so I guess that is what i will do. I'll post dyno results when its done
