Help!! SBC in 96Z

Help!! SBC in 96Z I am ready to drop my new 383 into my 96 z28 m6 very. Eagle bottom end, ATk sbc heads, comp 230/236 510/520. Air gap intake with volley 650 do. I planned on re using the in tank pump, so i got the holley 12-845 afpr. Holley said it would dial down the pressure from the efi pump. But a friend just told me that it would dial down pressure but the pump wont flow enough for the carb!! I really thought i was done spending money. Is this true. I have read every thread i can FIND on the subject. Can find too much onthis particular issue. Please tell me my friend doesnt know what hes talking about.

Given the setup you described above, you'll be okay. The in-tank fuel pump will supply more than enough fuel for your Holley 650 double-pumper and your 383 engine. You need to use the Holley pressure regulator to dial down the EFI pumps 38-42 psi to a lower pressure compatible with the floats in the carburetor (typically 5-7 psi).
Just be sure to hook up the by-pass port back to the fuel tank so the EFI pump doesn't dead-head and burn itself out.

I have a 363 ci carbed small block in my 95 Trans Am an I am using the stock in tank fuel pump to feed it. I have had a 750 holley hp and now have a 650 on it and never had a issue with fuel pressure. I have a aftermarket FP guuge in my a/c vent to monitor it and have never had a problem. My motor made 535 hp and it runs like a champ with the stock pump regulated down to 7.5 psi. Just make sure the regulator you have is a bypass style seeing how the fuel pump will be running non stop and can return what fuel it doesnt need to the tank.
