Sbc 355 I have a sbc thats .030 over bore. It has hydraulic lifters, flat tappet cam and roller tip rockers. It came stock with a .041 gasket thickness. And already have pushrods for that thickness but is it possible to go to a .036 gasket to get a better quench with the same pushrods or do I have to remeasure pushrod length. And would it make a big enough difference in motor efficiency to worry about going through the trouble of measuring for new pushrods??
Better choice would be the Mahle/Clevite/Victor-Reinz 5746 (.026" compressed thickness).

If all you're doing is swapping gaskets with no milling of the heads, you're only making a change of .015" with the thinner 5746, which is way short of 'off the shelf' pushrod increments of .050".

Find out how much your pistons are in the hole. If they are the standard .025, get a .015 or .020 steel shim gasket from Fel-Pro for the ideal .040-.045" quench.
Always measure for the proper pushrod length after any change to geometry is made.
