over the winter i'm pulling my motor and i already have a buyer lined up but i don't know what i want to replace it with? i already have a 565 lined up that runs 5.0s in a 2400lb camaro on motor it's a pat musi motor that would probably run 5.50's or so in my 3500lb turd and 5 teens on the juice. i also have acess to a 555 nitrous motor that makes 1000hp on the motor but is set up for nitrous. the question is i don't know if i want to go to tall deck stuff because then i have to change alot or just build a standard bowtie block 496-505 about 14.5-15.1cr nitrous motor that'll make about 900 or so on the motor. and no matter what i build it'll be built to take at least a 700-800 hit because i'm a nitrous junkie. i mean i didn't flinch at 500 on my little 468. so i guess this whole thing is should i say screw it and go big or keep it right around 500ci and still run low 8's on spray. at least if i keep it under 500 i can run the ls1tech outlaw class right?
Just my $.02, good luck whatever you choose!

it's getting all the upgrades except for the donovan block and it being setup as a full on nitrous version and the junk wiseco pistons are being replaced with je 14:8 gas ported nitrous pistons. it'll make about 1000hp with the upgrades on the motor and i've been guarenteed it will take whatever spray i want to hit it with. should run 8.60's to 8.80's on the motor and he said if i'm not scared to spray it with 600 or so it'll run 7's which all in all i'll be happy with for the price scott quoted me and i should have it in a month or so. and it's a short deck so i don't have to motor plate the car

hey man........
as some in this section may have noticed, i kind of pimp Fast Times Motorworks. i've watched them for many years and dreamed of having a motor built by them, and on New Years Eve day, i got one! initially, i was going to go BBC, but the deal i got on this one, i could not pass up. originally, i was looking to buy a motor they have built and had in a magazine, a 588" BBC on pump gas. i have seen a huge number of shops build these massive motors, but none have made the power these guys have on pump gas, period! it's around 9.5:1 CR, 588 ci, Dart Big M tall deck block, (can use the standard deck height if you ask), that they said made 950hp and 880lbft, on pump gas. the motor is also capable of taking a healthy shot of N2O, but it's already got a 100+hp advantage over the Schaffiroff motor. i would highly recommend talking to these guys before any final decisions. price as of about end of summer last year was $18K. very competitive price. either way, nice power level for a street motor.
later,
Dave
btw..........that 598 runs on 94 octane minimum. personally, i've never seen anything between 93 and 100 octane at the pumps. so if you can't use 93, you have to use 100......and that's no longer a pump gas motor in most peoples books. plus it's like $4.xx/gal!!!

i didn't think you had a choice when making that kind of power. are the motor mounts able to hold that kind of power? i'd hate to have you come back on here and tell us you spun the engine in the bay more than the tires in the wells!
