Default Roller to flat tappet

I have an old truck (76) and a 92 model 350 vortec for it. I'm gonna put a carb on it, and change the cam, I know a decent amount about these engines, but I dont know whats required (if anything) to go from the roller cam to a regular flat tappet. Besides of course changing the lifters. Can someone help me out. Thanks

I might be wrong but the lifter bores in those engines are machined for roller lifters only. But if you are still able to use a non roller lifter you will have to check your pushrod length and depending on the cam you might have to change valve springs. And change your timing chain and gears. Thats all that I can think of. Hope it helps.

Trying to build it budget. Its just gonna be a cruiser, nothing to drive everyday.

Ah ok, You should be fine as long as the Dia. of the Lifter is the same, then you would have to look at proper pushrod lengths and associated Vavletrain components.

A 92 wasnt a vortec or a roller engine was it? i thought that was still a tbi engine with a flat tappet?

Hmmmm I thought they went to roller cams in 87 with the centerbolt valve covers and one piece rear main, but I could be mistaken.
