454 in motorhome

454 in motorhome I have a 454 big block Chevy in my 1989 motor home. It was built in California-with their emission specs-no cats. Engine has air pump. Would like to remove same and plug off the ports. How can I do this and will this affect my emission timing? Also, what else can I do to this engine to improve my gas mileage?
