Default Opinions needed...

I need some rear end gear opinions for my set up, and of course you're welcome to guess the power it's going to put out. The car is a '73 Firebird, I have no guess on the weight of the car. Thanks in advance for your input.

SBC 355
Comp XE lobe 240/246 507/510 on 110* LSA
Dart Iron Eagle 200 2.05/1.60 w/ 64cc chambers
Air Gap intake
Edelbrock 750cfm 4bbl

Th400 w/ 3300 stall

Looking for rear end gear suggestions and hp output guesses.

Thanks in advance.

ARe you plannin on spraying it?? What size tire are you going to run??? DO you drive it on the street alot?

On my TA I have a TH400 and a 4400 nitrous converter and with a 383ci that made 638fwhp..It has a 3.70 in a ford 9in...I am going with a 4.33 for the nitrous and run pretty much 1/8 mile...

If your going to drive it on the street, I would go with a 4.10......good to drive on the street, an really good at the track as long as it doesn't spin.......

She's actually going to be another weekend warrior like my '00 Z. It may see 3-5K miles per year and that's a generous estimate. She's not going to see the spray until next year if I can resist that long...LOL Thanks for the input.

My old 355 combo was similar to your set-up, except I was running a crane cam solid grind with 518/536 lift, canfield aluminum 195 cc heads, victor jr intake and 650 dp Holley carb. Through a TH350 trans with 3400 stall 10" JW converter it put 327 rwhp down and ran in the high 11s in negative DA air at 3400 lbs. I'd guess 370 fwhp from your combo.

I'd go 3.73 gearing. I'm using that, and with the nitrous and 28 x 10 slicks I'm hitting 6400-6500 rpm through the traps, so more gears might run you out of motor before the end if you spray. Plus 3.73 gears are tame enough for street and some highway driving.
