Throttle body backfire!

Throttle body backfire! I have a 383 chevy with a tpi off of a 90 model corvette. When i first installed the tuned port it ran fine had plenty of power at about 500 miles I developed a exhuast leak drove for about a week and a half and corrected my exhaust leak when corrected i noticed that my motor was backfireing through my throttle body. I tried adjusting ignition timing as well as vavle timing to no avail. Thinking I burned a valve in my head i removed my heads and replaced with edelbrock E-Tec heads and installed a carburator first crank i noticed it was backfiring through the carburator at idle it runs fine only when giving more than quater throttle it does it backfire through the intake!! I am stumped me and my friends have no idea whats wrong woiuld love some input thanks!!!
