Default DITCHIN the TPI on the IROC what NEXT???

Ive got a 86 IROC with a 383 stroker and im trying to get rid of the Tune Port Injection and thinking about going with a stealthram intake or a big carb. the car made 306 hp and 420 torque with the current tune port injection setup. and the car still doesnt idle and run all that great even after the DFI tune.

Does anybody have any advice as to what kind of setup i could throw on this thing to make more HP and still be halfway streetable??

Thanks in advance
Seth

the stealthram is a sweet way to go especially for the money a word to the wise though dont use their fuel regulator its crap!get an aeromotive and fab up your own delivery system...you can go cheaper if you use an lt1 intake a few custom pieces but it makes the same power....

www.lt1intake.com
some other guys have used both and show their results if you search for (stealthram) in www.thirdgen.org good luck you have a bunch more power to unlock..

The TPIS Mini Ram is also an option. Little more $$. From what I've read many people's thoughts vary on the mini ram vs stealth ram vs others. Thirdgen.org is a very good resource for this sort of question.

The cam your running should determine what type of intake you use imho seeing as there are many many different types of options available to you with various rpm tuning built into there different desings what are the specs on your cam and where are you looking to make power?

don't underestimate the stock lt1 intake. i have a friend who home ported his heads and used a solid roller cam to run 12.3 on drag radials with his stock intake. the car was never dynoed.

If your cam isn't to radical, which it should not be for a TPI, consider the Accel SuperRam for great low and midrange. IMHO it is the best "stop light grand prix" induction system because it makes good power no matter what RPM you decide to stand on it. No dyno queen but much quicker then the numbers indicate because of its ability to average a lot of HP across the 2000 - 6500 RPM range.

The best route for performance Vs money is the stealth ram. For $400 it can not be beat. As for the idle not being good, that is not the intakes fault. Unless it is a very large cam it should idle great provided that it is tuned correctly. I have a 220/230 cam in my 355 with TFS heads and it idles great at 40kPa at 750 RPM.
