Default Small block thats been sitting for a while ?'s

Hey guys, heres the deal. I recently bought a forged sbc from my dad that he built 8 years ago for a project that never materialized. Its been in his garage all sealed up(valve covers, all ports etc). heres the specs- early 70's block out of a Z28 i believe(high nickel block?)"pink" rods,10.25 comp. forged pistons, .030 bore, stock crank, comp cams pro magnum full roller rockers, comp chromoly pushrods and lifters, comp dual springs(blue I think), Heads are world s/r torquer(175 cc runners unported) with 2.02/1.60 Manley stainless valves with umbrella seals and compcams retainers. Not sure of the cam,but he built this for a jeep and wanted it emissions legal(and good midrange, low end). It is a comp cams for a corvette i believe(for use with TPI) but it is a flat tappet.I know that it it is built well,it was done in house(ha)

Cople of questions
1. Should I pull the heads to inpect the cylinders?
2. Should i replace the crank seal, timing cover and pan gaskets?
3. What does it take to convert this block to a roller cam? parts, etc, Because Gm just realeased LS1 style lifter gloves for SBC's. Or would I be bettter of going to a 86 and later block with a 1 piece crank seal/roller setup?

What would you guys recommend for heads/cam for Mean steet setup. I am looking for an Iroc, and would like to convert it to a 6speed. I don't mind selling the heads, but keepin all the valvetrain, and buying some bare heads.

I would really like to keep this setup,Pops sold it to me for $1500 bucks, and included a full Billet accesory package from Street and Performance(billet a/c compressor, pullys, brackets, billet alternator, etc.

Thaks guys!!

If it's been inside and sealed up then it should still be good. Just prime and fire it up. If you got money to burn then work the heads you have some and run a mild roller. Something around 220-230 @ .050 and around .500 lift Just depends how much power you want to put down. 300hp at the wheels is good enough to make a fun daily driver.

Yeah, but my Z in the Sig laid down 342/340hp at the wheels. It will be strictly a toy car,I wouldn't mind running a large cam,and some nice 195cc afr heads or something,i'd like to get 350 to the ground at least. Would a windage tray be beneficial. Also what about swapping in a 3.750 crank to make it a 383,and spinning it to 6-6200 rpm? I wound'nt mind pulling the pan for a crank swap, and main studs.

Oh, lol I thought you were listing all the things you hate. With the 195s and a little pocket work, you can get 350 to the ground with a mild roller. The car in my sig ran the 490 isky and ran 12.0s
