Default Anyone running solid roller?

I've been thinking about switching to a solid roller setup lately and had a few questions. My valve to piston clearance was a little tight on the outer edge of the exhaust valve before, so i was thinking of running a smaller exhaust duration than my adv 274/286, 230/236 @.050 with obviously more lift (currently .500/.500). What duration/lift would you guys suggest? Obviously i will have to test the vtp clearance again once i get the cam but i was looking for a ballpark before i talked to a cam company. Which cams are the best when it comes to solid roller?

Also, along with the essentials of cam, solid roller lifters, valve springs/retainers what would be wise to invest in now? Do most solid roller users run stud girdles or shaft rockers? It seems that might help from having to adjust the rockers all the time. I have forged stock length pushrods, will these be sufficient for the stress place on them? How often will the rockers need adjusted...when you hear a slight ticking?

Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Im just looking for something different than my hydraulic flat tappet setup now. None of this will be done any time in the near future, but down the road so i figured i would go ahead and start getting the facts now. Thanks all.

Your P-rods should be just fine. The only thing that would cahnge that geometry is a diff head, I am going to be running a solid roller in my BB, Im going with roller rockers and a girdle over the shaft mount.. i dont plan on abusing it that bad. If you were just having clearance problems with just your exhaust valve you can try playing with your cam degreeing, Lunati is making some pretty nice grinds for street setups, alot of lift with good durations. Lunati,Comp,Crane, all make them for drag racing as well

I am running a Comp Cams Extreme Energy solid roller 254/260 @ .050" just over .600" valve lift. These cams are supposed to be a touch more streetable/less aggressive than an all out circletrack or DRAG RACE cam from COmp Cams. Comp Pro Magnum pushrods and roller rockers on 7/16" studs. It's working nicely, lashed it once after driving 400 miles and making 10 passes. It opened up from .016/.018 to around .020" or so..Nothing loose or noticable. Idles nice and clean around 1000-1200rpm, cruises like a champ, highway at 2800-3000.

if the solid lifters are any different in size then the hydrualic rollers you will probably need different sized pushrods. i would invest in a pushrod length checker to be dead on for sure. as far as shft rockers and girdles, unless you are spinning big RPM or running some serious lift ,.660"+, they may be overkill. but it does leave room to grow. i would switch to ARP rocker studs and double check your geometry with the p-rod checker.

I have an adjustable pushrod and arp rocker studs/bolts. I was mainly concerned on the extra stressed placed on the pushrods. What pistons are you guys running? What numbers are you guys putting out?
