What specs are you needing on the cylinder heads? The cam is itty bitty!

well i am building a 355 that will be residing in a 86 RX7 and am in the process of looking for heads for it and someone in town has a pair of heads from his l98 87 Iroc so i was just wondering how much lift the stock springs can take probably .450 or so, my roommate is paying for it and he doesn't want to pay for springs if he doesn't have to right away....
i doubt that the stock springs can take .462" of lift our cam has but i was just wondering

The stock cam is rated by GM to be 202/206 @.050" cam timing and .403"/.415" lift on a 115* LSA. My GM performance catolog doesn't give me stock valve spring part #'s to look up for them. They will probably be close to the ones in the late model vortec heads which are good for a .475' lift cam. However those springs are only good for low duration non-aggressive lobes. I would get a set of LT4 valve springs from www.SDPC2000.com, they are only $32.95 + shipping. That is what GM is useing on the replacement L98 heads. The part number for the springs is 12495494.

Unless you are getting those heads virtually for free, you should at least get Vortec heads. They are very reasonably priced, and unlike the iron L98s they can make some power.

yeah reasonably priced is an understatement the heads are in good shape low miles new valve seals and he only wants 50 bucks for them...hard to pass up the motor is going to go into a 86 RX7 so it will move out no matter what
