Should I upgrade? My original plan was to do a basic rebuild to my 454. Than i decided if im changing pistons already i might as well stroke it to 489 or 496. I have been planning to use a hydraulic flat tappet. But now i'm wondering if i should go for a hydraulic roller. This is not a max effort motor, just a street engine that happens to be big. using 049 ported, rpm dual plane and a 750 double pumper.
Generally how much extra $$$ for a roller set up? I have no cam right now so what would the difference in price be?
Given similar cam specs what would be a general estimate in power difference?
If i go flat tappet can i get away with factory style rockers? I cant do that with roller setup right.
There is always more money to spend but i'm trying to keep cost down, im still getting through college.
