Default L83 engine question

I just bought an airboat that has a SBC on it. the code cast into the rear of the block reads 14010207 and the code on the front passenger side reads v0709zba and from the research I have dug up says the zba suffix means it came out of an 82' vette with crossfire. That's my where my trail goes cold, I can't find out if it has a 2 bolt or 4 bolt main setup, is the crank in this thing one of the good ones? How about the rods? Any info on this motor would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I doubt its anything great. It probably had 230 hp max the crossfire FI was a POS. It couldn't really push the limits of a 2-bolt main, stock rods or any other part of a stock SBC so I wouldn't really be expecting to much.

But on the bright side it didn't come up as a 83 corvette engine.

edit #1...

mor-tec says; 14010207...350...80-85...2 or 4

edit #2 for you.... I over rated it by 30hp and LOL at the 7k tach.

The L83 in 82 was a 2 bolt main w/cast pistons. The engines are reliable and can be modified like any other smallblock. The heads and cam are your limiting factors if the CFI has been replaced by a carb. A set of 1.6-1 rockers will be your most cost effective hp booster unless you want to go into the engine. The 84 L83's had forged pistons. If you're looking to get over 300hp the heads will have to go, the CFI system if retained can be modified for better performance-I know, I have one. I just drove it 3500 miles round trip to compete in the Corvette Challenge in Richmond Va.
