Default had an idea

i have been pondering the idea of picking up a c4 corvette and throwing a nice sbc set up for nitrous. anyone know what might be involved in a swap. lt1-to a carbed small block that is. i thought this might be kinda cool and different at the same time. i searched but came up empty, any websites you guys might know of? any help is appreciated.

I think you are making your life more difficult by going to an LT-1 style motor. With all the advances in heads, cams and manifolds I would just stick with the SBC.

Wait are you starting with a lt1 or a sbc C4? I belive all pre 1992 C4's had sbc's. So pick up an older one and you will not have as much trouble as you would if you started with a lt1 based vette.

well i was thinking of starting with a 93-95 c4 that is stock. i dont really want to deal with the lt1 so i was thinking of buildiinga motor for it, and basiclly make it a bad *** street/strip car. i just dont know what all is involved with doing that. what do you guys think. i thought it would be different to see a carbed 406 or something in a c4.

You have to get at least a 4" hood, and even then you will not be able to run a big spacer plate under the carb.

I guess you could scab parts off of an older C4 that came with a L98

That would not be a very good swap, I would stay LT-1 as they rpm higher and make better HP/TQ as well. The L98 TPI's are better for truck engines with the low end TQ that they make on lower compression motors.

I know its not but read his first post carefully he wants to go FROM LT1 TO SBC, so I was just saying what would be easier since he wants to start with a '93-'95 instead of one that came with a gen I sbc origionally. I know its I say go LT-5 out of a ZR1 its a bad ****

I converted an 85 to a 406 carb set up.Only mods were to dent in the cross member to make room for the 400 eccentric balancer.l98 style throttle cable worked with a modified carb bracket.you can use the stock fuel lines with an electric pump up front on the frame,A stock mechanical pump will not work with the engine mounts in the way.Very simple.Good luck.BTW I was using an edlebrock performer intake and a 750 holley and the hood closed with no problems.
