surface rust on heads, quick fix? hey guys, i recently bought a dirt cheap set of rebuilt tbi heads from my buddy. These are going on my old beater. I made the mistake of putting them in the back of my truck with the rest of the parts for it and pulling it under my carport. Well, we had a big blowing rain and they got nice and wet and have some surface rust on them now. Its only been a few weeks since it has happened. What can i do to get rid of the surface rust without taking off the springs seals and soaking them in a soulution? I know there is probably a solution i could buy and soak them in but i figure it would destroy the brand new seals. Any pointers.
Take the springs off and completely clean them. The valves are probably rusted and could use some attention. A scotchbrite pad can get the deck surface clean.
Or you could just throw them on the truck and hope for the best with minimal clean up work.
Guess which one I'd pick.

WD 40 and a hard sponge or something break down as much as you can pressure wash the dirt out and run them. At least thats what i would do if i were you.
