Rockers question
or it should start even if I started installing the rockers following the TDC by starting with the wrong cylinder? I bought a 93 LT1 and I was told it ran great, before I droped it in my Z28 I just installed a 1.6 rockers replacing the stock ones and the engine didn't wanna start and back fire like ****.
I'm just concerened if the engine IS ok and I just did something wrong installing the rockers. What do you guys think?
Pick a cylinder and start there. Start on that ONE cylinder by hand turning the engine clockwise.
When the intake rocker just closes the intake valve adjust the EXHAUST on that cylinder, then hand turn it clockwise until the exhaust rocker just starts to open the exhaust valve and adjust the INTAKE rocker.
Don't jump around from cylinder to cylinder trying to avoid cranking the engine by hand, do one at a time. At least until you've done enough that you get used to the procedure.
