Question bad plug wires

Could bad or cracked plug wires cause my 454 to "miss" and have small back fires? or does that sound more like a timing issue?
any advice would be cool.............thanx

.

Of course, u can miss a spark, have a weak spark, have spark jump to another hole.

Electrical system needs to be clean, tight and kept up. Good luck.
