Default AFR head flaws

I just recieved a set of AFR Street Eliminator heads, and noticed that the holes for the rocker studs were drilled a little too deep, leaving a burr in 4 of the runners. AFR said this is common and just to deburr it and it shouldnt affect performance. Im still worried about the hole getting bigger with heat, and having a small piece fall into the combustion chambers. Pics will be up shortly. Are any of your heads like this, is it that big of a deal?

these are from the same cylinder head and is also on the same ports on the other head...

Is that a hole right through the runner? If so those are junk. Send them back send them pics ect....

The rocker arm bolts protrude through the heads on most all cylinder heads. That is completely normal. If you are worried about it affecting air flow then epoxy fill the hole with a putty like Quicksteel and let it set up. Make sure to leave your stud in place so that you don't put to much into the hole. After letting it set up, then you can take a sanding roll and blend it all back into the rest of the runner.

Also dont forget to put some thread sealer onto your studs that go into the intake runner side. It will keep the possibility of it pulling oil through the threads under vaccum down to nill. One other thing that you can do is back cut the valves at a 30* angle to pick up about 7cfm more through out the entire lift of the valves. The other thing to look at is how well the CNC blends into the back of the valve seat, I have had to back cut this area as well on past AFR heads.

yea well i contacted several performance shops today and they all said that it wont affect the flow or performance or anything else like that...

Permatex #2 thread sealer works great for this application. Most all stock ported LS1 castings are the same way. My original AFR 190cc's are not this way though. I didn't know the new Eliminators were like that either until seeing pics of yours. They are supposed to be a great head. Enjoy!
