BBC build up OK, using desktop dyno and the Stan Weiss peak horsepower/rpm charts, I came up with the following combo.
509" (4.5 bore X 4.0 stroke) Chose this because good flow as well as good rod angle.
Dart Pro 1 CNC 335 aluminum heads (flow 383 @ .600 and 401 @ .700)
Comp Cams # 11-744-9 solid roller .67 lift 262 intake 272 exhaust
or
Comp Cams # 11-470-8 solid roller .612 lift 252 intake 252 exhaust
900cfm Holley
10.5:1 compression
With the bigger cam, desktop dyno puts me at 714hp @ 6500 and 643 lb/ft @ 5000. I am concerned that the idle with the big cam will be to high. I have the smaller cam in my 468 now but with hydraulic rollers instead of solid and it idles at 1500rpm. I don't know how much the bigger motor will eat that up though. Even with the smaller cam, desktop dyno puts me at 676hp @ 6000rpm and 663ft/lbs at 4500. I can make more power with a dominator but I am concerned about losing driveability on the street. What do you guys think about this combo?

Cam is small if its mostly a race application with a little street. I don't know why either would need to idle at 1500rpm. My cam is 270/288 .816" lift and idles fine at 1100 and thats with only 9:1 compression. I think a 509" is a good combination and the heads will work good on that size motor. I also don't think a dominator would be bad on the street necessarily if set up right. Just all depends on what you consider 'streetable' and how much street duty it will see IMO.

+1 those are small cams. With proper timing & carb set up you can get the idle way down from that. 509" are great motors and I think the are great bracket or combo motors.
