Default Tuning Carbs

Well guys i finally have a carbed motor.

Its a 97 vortec 350 with the Edelbrock Air Gap RPM with some edelbrock carb on it (EPS?).

I just stuffed this into my 88 and I have NO experience with carbs or tuning on older style stuff.

Im looking for some good tuning information.. like how you guys perfer to do your timing and how to tune this thing to run good like it did in my brothers truck (the 97)

set the base timing between 8 and 12 degrees advanced
Set the idle mixture for highest vacuum and back the screw 3/4 of a turn.

If it bogs then play with the secondary

Here we are again with some bogus advice. I guess if it bogs on tip in he should play with the secondary, right? And you come up with the 8-12 degrees, how?

bogus?

Its a starting point.Most carbed motors with stockish cams I start with 10-12 degrees.cant you read?It says set the mixture with the highest vacuum then play with the secondary if it bogs.

i figure make fulladvance to 34*ish and where the idle ends up being it ends up being...

kjust was gunna get timing in... back screws out 2 turns.... set idle rpm... adjust for most vaccum... check idle again... and that is as far as i know what to do.
