Intake is leaking need help 350 SB
Intake is leaking need help 350 SB Just got this car. The intake is leaking smells like gas mixed w oil at the front corner of the intake. Is this common? The guy must have done somehting wrong. Should I just take the intake off and reinstall w some RVT gasket maker??? Please help new to carberated motors....
More than likely he used the crap gaskets that came with the manifold to seal the front and rear of the intake manifold. They are junk and always seem to leak. Remove the intake and clean the area very well. Apply a nice bead of RTV and reinstall intake. I've yet to have on leak doing it this way.

Did you check the torque on the bolts? Failing that, you are pulling the intake, luckily, not a hard job. I like to use blue RTV on coolant passages. If you buy premium gaskets, you shouldn't need the RTV though. For the front and rear ledge of the valley pan, DO NOT use the little cork or neoprene gaskets in the kit, just build up a nice layer of RTV, I like to use the orange for this, but the black works good too.
