Default What mufflers?

I have a 79 caprice 400ci small block I'm rebuilding. I plan on putting on new mufflers because the car has been sitting and I'm probably going to need a new exaust system. What mufflers would you guys reccomend? I want it to have a growl but not be extremly loud.

spintechs, use the larger street mufflers with an x-pipe they make a really good and different sound, significant hp gains over flowmasters i have seen

I ran nothing but Flowmasters on my Nova until I swapped to Magnaflows. Same size (3" diameter) gained 12 more rwhp without the interior drone. Just my opinion, but they work well!

I was thinking about going with flowmasters. Are cherrybombs any good?

flowmasters are not good mufflers. Gets something like dynomax bullets, 36 bucks a piece and flow better than anything else out there.

If you want a sexy sound without being overly loud, look at the dynomax ultra-flows. They're really popular with the big block chevelle guys. My buddy has them on his firebird and they sound sweeeeeet.

I like the sound of schoenfeld mufflers and an X-pipe. Enjoy:

Could aways go with some Mroso Spiral Flow mufflers. they sound pretty good, and they flow well too. They are louder than a regular muffler but will sound good!!

I'm in between flowmasters and dynomax. I've heard good things about both. My car will be in the shop after this winter so I have to do some shopping for parts. Thanks for the help guys.
