Block machine and build Before I start calling thought I should get some general estimates. How much of a range in price should I see for a 350 to be bored out to 383 and the assembly installed?
Well, by bored you mean .030 over and a 3.75 stroke crank installed i am charged 190$ for the bore anf hone, cleaned, cam bearings installed and freeze plugs out the door, i install my own crank, it is 210 or so if they magnaflux it but i never get that done unless it is a block i bought from somone i have no idea about.
Just remember that your machine work is your foudation, with poor quality of work usually equals a short lived motor & poor results. MAKE SURE that they use a torque plate when they hone the block. Some shops will say that they use a TQ plate, but really don't. You will see .005"-.006" out of round on a motor that has been honed without a TQ plate, which simulates the stretch against the bore when a cylinder head is torqued down. Again, usually, the machine shop that is the busiest in your area is your best choice to take your work to.
