Default 350 in a 3rd gen camaro

I am getting a 92 camaro RS with a 305 in it.I have a 1973 350. Will this bolt right up or does something need to be done to make it work?Or should I just rebuild the 305 and bore it out?

i have delt with this option many times i have a 91,92 rs camaros and an 89 iroc z but any gen 1 350 will fit you may have to change other things but it will work many people try to build 305s and get 350s anyway power to doller ratio is better. i just bought an ls1 lots of power and good on gas actually i have a tpi 350 with 50 miles on it if lots of goodies you want it just pm me

Would it be worth building a 305. Im going to drive it but I am going to take to strip and would it 2 run in the low 13s. The 305 has 210000 miles on it and does burn oil or leak the car starts right up. I am going to rebuild the 700R4 because it is original 2. Would any one know the gear ratio in it?

The LG4 305 engine makes decent torque for what it is, but it can't be bored out to make it into something that it is not. The heads have tiny ports, and you won't make nearly as much power once it is all said and done as you would with a 350. The only thing that may be different when swapping out the 305 for a 350 that I can think of is the location of the oil dipstick tube. Bob

Yes, it will bolt right in, the dipstick might be on the driver side rather than the passenger sode but that is it.

If your only shooting for 13's, keep the 305....

However, if your heart is set on the 350, assuming your still running the stock Throttle Body Injection, you'll need to upgrade your injectors (simply switch to a 454 throttle body, w/stock injectors, and get yourself an adjustable fuel pressure regulator), 350 knock sensor, as well as a 350 (LO5) prom, or simply have a prom burnt to your specs (recommended). If you want to get serious with your TBI (tuning wise), contact Bob over at Dynamic EFI and he'll hook you up with the ultimate "flash" ECM specifically designed for your setup, Click Here....

Good luck,

-Rob

305s are the biggest peices of **** known to man...

And since 350s are so cheap, it would be dumb not to use one

I agree.

I really don't think you will be happy with the 305, unless you are willing to put some work into it.

Let me get this straight. You want to run LOW 13s, with a 305, without doing ANY bottom end work, or nitrous? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA *breath* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

wake up.

It is too cheap to build a 355 or 3v3n a 383 not to, it is worth it and youll enjoy evey minute of 50-80+ cubic inches.

OK there jack@ss, I thought people where trying to help others out when they didnt know about something. And the bottom end pistons rods was about the 350. I have 350 I am going to put that in it. I didnt know what a 305 would do or if it wulds be worth it.And when I going to drive the car everyday I want it to be half way decent on gas.

dude i built up a 305 once. 5 speed manual/edelbrock rpm intake/ carb/ comp cam xe262/headers/hooker catback. Sounded sweet. Could barely keep up with a stock lt1. It was fun but not worth it.

lilblackZ28, don't let anyone deter you. If you want to build your 305, then go for it. There are plenty of naturally aspirated 305's running in the 12's, it's all about the combo. Asking to pull a 3400+ pound car to such a bracket zone might be asking a little much for the anemic 305, especially with readily available parts more suited for the 350. You cannot build a 305 in the same manner as the 350 (which people mistakingly do), so focus on gearing, both in the tranny as well as the rear, lighten up the frame some, select your valvetrain carefully, and 13's will easily be realized, and who knows, you might even be knocking on the 12 second door....

I am putting a 350 in the car!!!!!I was going to anyway.Just so everyone knows that. The only reason the 305 was brought up was because I didnt know if it was worth builing a 305..I dont care if it is or not because I have a 350 for the car...And the video proves that 305 can go in the 12's...People shouldnt chime in when they dont really know what they are talking about. Thanks to all the guys that gave helpful information.
